My mother loved living in Arop. But one
day, a big wave came crashing over the
village. Then a second wave hit, and a
third one! Village houses were swept
away by these big waves. Tall coconut
trees lay 昀氀at on the ground everywhere.
But the worst part was that a lot of the
people in the village were swept away

by the waves. As the survivors gathered
together in the days that followed, they
realized how many had lost family
members. They also realized that they
couldn’t live there anymore. It was too
dangerous! They would have to start a
new village, but where?
